A man is in custody in Mpumalanga following an alleged confession to the murder of a woman whose body was discovered buried in a porcupine burrow. The police were initially unaware of the incident, as the woman had not been reported missing.
According to police spokesperson Col Donald Mdhluli, the 33-year-old suspect approached the Belfast police station on Wednesday to confess to the crime. The man, who resides on a farm in Vogelspruitpoort, reportedly encountered the woman on the street last Friday. After picking her up, they went to his home, where they spent time consuming alcohol together.
Mdhluli explained that during their time together, the woman began to make noise, prompting the man to attempt to calm her down. Unfortunately, the situation escalated, leading to tragic consequences. Following the incident, the suspect allegedly drove to a farm approximately 20 kilometres away, where he buried her body in a porcupine burrow and covered it with stones to conceal it.
