A tragic incident early one morning has left the community of Itsoseng, North West, in deep shock. Constable Lesego Chuene Phefo, a 28-year-old police officer with the Mahikeng Public Order Policing Service (POPS), entered a home in Itsoseng’s Zone 2 around 3:30 a.m., where he found his girlfriend, Tlhalefo Setlhare, with friends.
Reports indicate that an altercation ensued, resulting in a devastating loss of life. Constable Phefo allegedly used his service weapon, leading to the passing of both Setlhare and her friend, Vumile Gcuku. Another person present, Mojalefa Rakoma, sustained injuries and was quickly taken to the hospital for urgent care.
